Concert: Fabio Mittino's "Shining Road" by California Guitar Trio
The California Guitar Trio met while studying with British guitarist Robert Fripp. During that time, they met guitarist Fabio Mittino, who wrote the song being performed in this video.

Concert: "Toccata and Fugue in Dm" by California Guitar Trio
The California Guitar Trio is one of the world's most innovative guitar-centric groups. Here they are with their mind-blowing arrangement of J.S. Bach's "Toccata and Fugue in D Minor." Pay attention to how they pass notes between one another in a circulation. These guys are masters of these instruments.
Mr. Bungle’s “Disco Volante”
Mr. Bungle's "Disco Volante" is the second disc in this Jaw Droppers series that I want to highlight. It's an incredible album with many twists and turns, lots of diversity, and incredible creativity. A lot of people hate it.
Share: "The Divine Abstract" by Charlie Cawood
Charlie Cawood is a London-based multi-instrumentalist best known for his work in the band Knifeworld. His album "The Divine Abstract" is an incredible work of art with dozens of instruments from all over the world. The more we listen to this album, the more we love it. You can purchase it on Charlie's Bandcamp page: https://charliecawood.bandcamp.com
The Residents’ “Animal Lover”
"Animal Lover" by The Residents is one of the most terrifying albums I've ever heard. I wanted to make a video about it as the first in a new series called "Jaw Droppers," in which we go into detail about albums that've left us slack-jawed.
California Guitar Trio plays "Daydreaming" by Radiohead live at the MIM
We had a wonderful time with the California Guitar Trio at the Musical Instrument Museum in Phoenix, Arizona on February 24, 2018. We were able to film some of their concert and had a great interview before the show. Look for that video in the coming weeks!
Learn: Steve Vai's Taurus Bulba E mixolydian madness
This is one of the craziest and most fun Vai licks to play from his album, Fire Garden. I hope you enjoy and pick it up yourself.
Gentle Giant’s “Aspirations” Performed by Gary Green, Mike Keneally, Andy West, Malcolm Mortimer, Anthony Garone, and Friends
This is one of my favorite Gentle Giant songs and I was incredibly honored to be asked to join such tremendous musicians on stage for this performance. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d have an opportunity like this. Gary Green was a guitar hero for me growing up, and to look over to make eye contact while performing music with him is just indescribable.
Panzerballett’s “X-Mas Death Jazz”
We are thrilled and stunned to present one mega-video featuring interviews with Jan Zehrfeld of Panzerballett, Mattias IA Eklundh of Freak Kitchen, Jen Majura of Evanescence, and Mike Keneally of Frank Zappa/Joe Satriani/Steve Vai. "X-mas Death Jazz" is Panzerballett's new album and, if you ask us, one of the top albums of the year. Each artist talks us through the album and what it took to record it. Hope you enjoy this as much as we enjoyed making it!
Share: Jen Majura's "Inzenity"
Let’s explore Jen Majura’s super-fun album, Inzenity. You may recognize Jen as the guitarist for Evanescence, but that’s only a slice of what she does musically. Check this album out.
Mike Keneally, Kerry Minnear, Gary Green, and Malcolm Mortimore
It is an honor and a privilege to present this group conversation between Mike Keneally and three members of Gentle Giant: Gary Green (guitar), Kerry Minnear (keyboard), and Malcolm Mortimore (drums). It was Mike's first time meeting Kerry and Malcolm. In this diverse interview, they discuss songwriting, deadlines, the power of hats, investing in music, live performance, and more.
Interview: Andy West & Markus Reuter
The incredible Andy West and the inimitable Markus Reuter sit down and have a chat in the MWM HQ living room. They cover many deep topics from algorithmic music generation to the value of sharing art. Pretty wild.
Learn: Tuplets with Jan Zehrfeld of Panzerballett
Jan Zehrfeld is the bandleader of the German jazz-metal band, Panzerballett. They have written ear-defying songs based entirely on quintuplets (5 notes per beat) and septuplets (7 notes per beat). Learn how Jan has put these techniques to use and see/hear examples. It's incredible!
Failure to Fracture, Ep. 5: Alex Anthony Faide Interview
Alex Anthony Faide is the only guy on the internet who's actually able to play King Crimson's Fracture at full speed. He studied for many years with Robert Fripp in the Guitar Craft/Guitar Circle courses and continues to this day in pursuit of right- and left-hand clarity. He is an inspiration to many of us.
